FAA WORKING TO CORRECT INSTRUMENT LANDING SYSTEM ISSUE AT LUBBOCK PRESTON SMITH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

LUBBOCK, Texas, Dec. 14 -- The city of Lubbock issued the following press release: The instrument landing system (ILS) at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport is currently not operational. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which owns and operates the equipment, is aware of the problem and working to correct it. There are two ILS structures at the airport, however one system is currently disabled due to the east-west runway construction. The airport also has a RNAV or area navigation system but not all air carriers use that technology.
