Dec. 12--Hawker Beechcraft plans a sale of surplus assets Dec. 20 at its Salina division.

The Wichita-based airplane maker is closing its Salina operation. Hawker's leases of a number of buildings in the Salina Airport Industrial Center are set to expire at the end of February 2012.

A large quantity of machine tools, such as grinders, a parts washer, vertical machining center, metal lathes, drills, presses, milling machines, cutters and a X-ray machine are listed for sale. Pickup trucks, a truck, carts, shelving, mowers, conduit fittings, plywood, fasters, saws and routers also are listed.

The items can be previewed by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19. For an inspection time, call Ken Summers at (314) 220-3535.

The general address of the auction is 2656 Scanlan, but bidding will take place in six buildings near the airport. Registration begins in Building 713, and the sale begins in Building 723.
