STOCKHOLM, December 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --

Aptilo Networks, a leading provider of systems to manage mobile data services for Wi-Fi, WiMAX and 3G/LTE networks, including mobile data offloading, announced today that Aptilo's service management platform for carrier-class Wi-Fi has been selected by NextGenTel for deployment of Wi-Fi services at all 46 airports in Norway.

NextGenTel expects that the Wi-Fi service - which will be free for all users - will initially serve approximately 100,000 users per month. Aptilo will replace the airports' existing solution with a carrier-class platform that improves the usability of the service. Previously, user passwords were distributed manually by airport staff who handed out printed vouchers.  With Aptilo users can sign-up for service themselves online and get the password delivered to their cell phone via SMS.

"We are honored to receive this order from NextGenTel to replace the current Wi-Fi hotspot solution at the 46 airports in Norway," said Anders Emilsson, VP Business Area Orbyte, Aptilo Networks. "We are currently experiencing a surge for upgrades to carrier-grade Wi-Fi solutions worldwide."

NextGenTel is a subsidiary of TeliaSonera which has been utilizing a platform from ServiceFactory since 1999 for delivering carrier-class Wi-Fi services throughout the Nordic region. ServiceFactory was acquired by and fully integrated into Aptilo Networks' organization in January 2011. TeliaSonera recently completed a project with Aptilo to enable mobile data offloading in the largest network in Sweden using the Aptilo SIM Authentication Server™ for automatic and secure login of Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones.

"Aptilo really understands carrier-class Wi-Fi.  Their excellent track record with us and their position as the leading vendor in this space globally made it natural for us to select Aptilo for this deployment at the airports in Norway," said Jörn Heggertveit, Product Manager, NextGenTel. "We are expecting and looking forward to a rapid increase of users from the initial 100,000 per month."
