Today, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken (D-Minn.) announced nearly $5 million in funding for the construction of a new terminal building at Duluth International Airport.

"Day in and day out, the people of Duluth rely on their airport to stay connected to the world," said Sen. Klobuchar. "Investing in Duluth International will help ensure that the airport remains world class, promoting economic development across the region."

"At a time when unemployment is devastating communities all over the state, the Duluth Airport brings jobs and income into the region by connecting the people of northern Minnesota to Duluth and to the rest of the world," said Sen. Franken. "These federal funds will allow Duluth International to build a more modern terminal building, bringing it into the 21st century and allowing it to continue to provide the safe, reliable air service Minnesotans expect and deserve."

The funding comes from the Federal Aviation Administration through the Department of Transportation. The project will replace the existing outdated terminal building and provide improved accessibility for disabled persons.
