Two F-16 jets intercepted a plane Thursday afternoon that had dropped out of radio contact near Denver.

The plane landed around 5 p.m. at Centennial Airport in Englewood after being escorted by the jets, which were scrambled by North American Aerospace Defense Command, said Lt. Cmdr. Bill Lewis.

Law enforcement officials met the pilot after he taxied to a stop, Lewis said.

It was not immediately known why the aircraft lost radio communication, he said.
