Bird Design-Build Construction gets new deal from Canada Post
Bird Design-Build Construction Inc. received a new deal from Canada Post. As per this deal, Bird Design-Build Construction will be responsible to design and build Canada Post s processing facility at Vancouver International Airport located in Richmond.
Under a competitive bidding process, Canada Post obtained a long-term lease with Vancouver Airport Authority for 42-acre site at the airport. The company will make an investment of $200 million in new postal facility and related equipment. The multi-purpose processing facility will have total area of 700,000 sq ft. The construction work on this facility will begin in 2011 fall and is likely to be operational in 2014. This facility will process advertising mail, packets, parcels and letters. The new postal facility will fulfill the conditions of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The new facility will also manage the operation of Canada Border Services Agency to provide superior services to western Canadians. With a processing facility at Vancouver International Airport, Canada Post will boost its ease of use to key transportation channels and expand its eCommerce business, improve its delivery logistics, process the mails quickly as well as provide better customer service.
