Vatry Airport Selects Lufthansa Systems' ELWIS Air Cargo Handling Solution
French airport Vatry (XCR) is the latest customer to sign up for ELWIS (Electronic Logistics & Warehouse Information System). ELWIS is part of Lufthansa Systems' AdvancedCargo Suite developed to support a cargo airlines needs from booking, tracking, ground handling to accounting. It operates in twenty-six Asian, European & South American airports in twelve countries and covers the entire workflow from physical handling to documentation, customs clearance and invoicing of the handling services. The modular system, which is either web or client-server based, thus increases throughput, reduces costs and creates the necessary conditions for optimum customer service.
ELWIS' comprehensive functionalities complete with handling, scanning and factoring modules were the determining factor in Vatry's decision, in addition to the continuous integration of innovative approaches with the system. In 2005, ELWIS was expanded to integrate RFID and DGR technologies and an e-invoicing feature.
Implemented on a client-server basis, the system will provide crucial support in Vatry Airport's goal to modernize its IT infrastructure and processes. Strategically located in Europe's busy commercial heartland, Vatry International Airport boasts multimodal transport services that include rail and road links designed to ensure rapid connections to major centres across the continent.
