Turin Airport Expected to Go Back to Normal After Wildcat Protest
Turin's airport was expected to return to normal Wednesday after a wildcat strike broke an Olympic games truce and paralyzed the airport for two days, an Italian news agency said.
Companies operating Turin's Caselle airport and workers' representatives reached a deal during overnight negotiations, the ANSA news agency said.
An airport spokesman was not available for comment, and no details were immediately available.
The strike began Monday afternoon, idling planes on the tarmac, stranding travelers and forcing some flights to land at other Italian airports.
The workers were protesting plans to fire 11 ground workers.
Turin hosts the Winter Games Feb. 10-26.
A truce with local officials covering the airport began earlier this month, while a nationwide truce was slated to begin Jan. 31.
An unrelated protest by Alitalia workers was causing chaos at airports across the country.
