A Northwest Airlines Boeing 747-400 carrying 329 passengers and 17 crew made an emergency landing at Kansai Airport on Sunday after reporting to the Construction and Transport Ministry's air traffic control office at the airport that it had engine trouble. No injuries were reported.
Northwest Airlines Flight 70, bound for Kansai Airport from Taipei, experienced engine trouble at 10:25 a.m. while flying at an altitude of 11,000 meters over the sea off Tosashimizu, Kochi Prefecture. The plane landed at the airport 40 minutes later.
