Allegiant Air Pulls Out of Columbia

The airline, which just started service on Dec. 14, is leaving because of a lack of market demand.

Jan. 16 -- Allegiant Air had a short flight in Columbia.

The airline announced Tuesday it is canceling service between Columbia and Tampa on Feb. 6. The first flight was Dec. 14.

The airline is leaving because of a lack of market demand, Allegiant CEO Maurice J. Gallagher said.

Customers who have reservations for flights on Feb. 8 and beyond will be rebooked to fly out of the Greenville-Spartanburg airport. Refunds also will be offered, the airline said.
