SEVEN Rome baggage handlers who targeted British flights and stole GBP 100,000 of property have been arrested.

They slashed open bags for Ryanair and easyJet flights from Ciampino airport to grab mobile phones, cameras and designer clothes.

Police began video surveillance after a flood of complaints from victims and saw the gang cutting open suitcases.

A police spokesman said: "They targeted flights to Britain because they thought there would be better pickings."

Police plan to put recovered items on their website so victims can identify their property.
