Swissport Wins Passenger Handling License for Luxembourg Airport

Swissport is active at the airport with its own cargo organization, and will expand the activities to passenger handling.

Zurich/Luxembourg, Nov. 11, 2008 — Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground services to the aviation sector, has been awarded (after a competitive tender process) a seven-year license to perform passenger ground handling at Luxembourg Airport. The new operation is timetabled to begin during the first quarter of 2009.

Swissport has been awarded a license by Luxembourg’s ministry of transport which will enable the world’s leading ground handler to offer the full range of passenger and ramp services at Luxembourg Airport. Swissport is already active at the airport with its own cargo organization, and will now expand these activities to passenger handling.

A number of airlines have expressed an interest in using Swissport’s new services. The next few weeks will be devoted to the associated formalities; but Swissport is confident of commencing its new operation in early 2009.

This latest success marks a further welcome step in Swissport’s current expansion within the key European market. Luxembourg Airport handled some 1.7 million travelers last year.
