Zurich, March 18, 2009 – Swissport International has appointed two new executive vice presidents to its group executive management.
Luis Pascual, currently group CFO, will be handing over his duties to Alvaro Gómez Reino, who joins Swissport from Ferrovial subsidiary Amey.
Elena Fernandez will be succeeded as general counsel & head of legal affairs by José Ramón Delgado Lorente, who moves to Swissport from Cintra, a further Ferrovial subsidiary.
The two appointees will assume their posts on April 1, and will be thoroughly familiarized with their new duties in the course of the following month.
Luis Pascual joined Swissport in 2005 from Ferrovial, and has been serving as group CFO in charge of global financial activities. Under his skilled and professional leadership, Swissport International has made extensive progress in its financial affairs, with achievements that include establishing new reporting tools and procedures, enhancing the profile and quality of teams within the Swissport financial function, adopting effective and professional cash management and ensuring Swissport’s financial stability. He also has been deeply involved in many complex corporate projects and business transactions to secure a successful outcome for the company. Luis Pascual will move to Madrid, effective August 1, 2009, to serve as head of international finance of the Ferrovial Group, reporting to the Ferrovial Group CFO. In the meantime, he will stay at Swissport over the next few months in order to support and ensure a smooth transition within his functions. Swissport offers him its warmest thanks for his outstanding service and expertise, and wishes him every success and satisfaction in his new duties.
Luis Pascual is succeeded as CFO of Swissport International by Alvaro Gómez Reino, who has been with Ferrovial since 2003. He can also look back on a long financial career, and has most recently been responsible for controlling at the UK-based Amey Group (a Ferrovial company).
Elena Fernandez also joined Swissport in 2005 and, as head of legal affairs, has since been driving numerous key business transactions.
She has also built up a very professional and sound legal unit which has been able to support all Swissport entities around the world with its competent legal advice on all kinds of business cases. She now returns to Ferrovial Servicios (legal department) in Madrid to take over responsibility as head of international and mergers & acquisitions. Swissport offers her, too, its deepest thanks for the pleasant and positive collaboration, and wishes her every happiness and satisfaction in her new challenges.
Elena Fernandez is succeeded at Swissport by fellow legal specialist José Ramón Delgado Lorente, who has been with the Ferrovial Group since 1998. Jose Ramon Delgado Lorente has held various leading functions with Cintra, the Ferrovial subsidiary of infrastructure concessions projects (toll roads, car parkings), most recently as head of legal for its Spanish and Portuguese operations.
“I would like to express my warmest thanks to Elena and Luis for their exceptional professional and personal commitment as well as their innumerable outstanding contributions,” says Per Utnegaard, Swissport International president & CEO. “They have both been key contributors to the success of Swissport. And I would like to wish Elena and Luis a successful continuation of their business careers and challenges within the Ferrovial Group.”
“At the same time,” Utnegaard continues, “I would like to warmly welcome our two new group executive management members, by wishing them every success and satisfaction in their challenging new duties. It’s also encouraging to see that valuable successions and promotions are taking place within Ferrovial, which shows the strength of an international group with many capable leaders sharing the same business philosophy.”
