Singapore, June 11, 2010 – Singapore Airport Terminal Services Limited (SATS) has been conferred the ‘Best Air Cargo Terminal – Asia’ at this year’s Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held yesterday in Shanghai. It marks the 12th time that SATS has received this prestigious title given to an air cargo terminal that received the most number of votes cast by professionals in the logistics and cargo industry.

On winning this award, SATS’ Senior Vice President, Cargo Services, Mr Yacoob Piperdi said: “I wish to thank our staff for their dedication and hard work, without which this recognition by the air cargo community would not have been possible, and our partners and customers for their tremendous support. We are honored as this award is a clear affirmation of our efforts to achieve operational excellence by improving air cargo services for our customers and the industry’s end-users.

“As a leader in Gateway Services, we are also constantly innovating to broaden our service and product offerings and deliver greater value to our customers. Initiatives such as Coolport@Changi, Singapore’s first on-airport perishable handling center which is opening later this month, are a testament to our efforts.”

The AFSCA is organized by Cargonews Asia, the region’s leading publication for Asian cargo shippers, to honor organizations for demonstrating leadership as well as consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability.

The Best Air Cargo Terminal category specifically looks to service providers to set and communicate clear performance standards to users, be forward-thinking in new infrastructure investment, and maintain effective and user-friendly IT systems. The 2010 AFSCA was held at the Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel.
