ROME (AP) -- A domestic Swiss airline flight en route from Lugano to Zurich made an emergency landing at Milan's Malpensa airport Tuesday after being struck by lightning shortly after takeoff, airport officials said.

Officials said the plane, which was carrying 49 people, touched down in Milan at 7:58 a.m. (0558GMT). It flew south to Malpensa because the airport is well-equipped for emergency landings.

No injuries were reported.
