Mexico Reports Largest Airport Cocaine Seizure

The federal Public Security Department said 262 packages wrapped in brown tape were discovered inside five boxes that allegedly held merchandise for a greenhouse.

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Federal agents at Mexico City's airport found 289 kilograms (636 pounds) of cocaine disguised as agricultural merchandise, the largest such seizure at the airport, officials said Thursday.

The federal Public Security Department said 262 packages wrapped in brown tape were discovered inside five boxes that allegedly held merchandise for a greenhouse.

The shipment had arrived from Bogota, Colombia, aboard a cargo plane. No arrests were reported.
