NWA Sets New Limits for Bag Weight

Expect to pay an additional $25 if your bag tips the scales at 50 pounds to 70 pounds beginning Sept. 1.

If you're traveling in coach on an international Northwest Airlines flight, expect to pay an additional $25 if your bag tips the scales at 50 pounds to 70 pounds beginning Sept. 1.

The old weight limit for additional fees was 70 pounds. Northwest is joined by partner KLM in reducing the limit for international flights, bringing its policy in line with domestic flights. As before, passengers are allowed to check up to two bags.

Northwest said its differing policies proved confusing for customers. The fees will also offset some higher costs.
