Jackson Hole Airport Recognized for Safety

Jackson Hole Air Traffic Control Tower and Airport received the 2005 Willie F. Card FAA Contract Tower Service Award.

VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2005--Jackson Hole Air Traffic Control Tower and Airport received the 2005 Willie F. Card FAA Contract Tower Service Award. The tower is operated by Serco which has received the award at different locations each of the three years since its inception.

The award is presented annually to the airport and FAA contract tower that best exemplifies excellence in customer service and safety in the contract tower industry. The award is named in honor of former FAA contract tower branch manager Willie F. Card, who managed the FAA program from 1998 until 2002.

The award is presented by AAAE and its affiliate, the U.S. Contract Tower Association (USCTA).

FAA administrator, Marion Blakey, presented the award to Jackson Hole Air Traffic Control Tower manager Rick Schmidt and Jackson Hole Airport Manager George Larson on July 18 in Washington, D.C.

Despite challenges presented by the local weather and the variety of aircraft using the runways, the controllers at Jackson Hole are known for their courtesy and expertise in helping the pilots that use the Jackson Hole Airport.
