Reading Airport Employee to Serve 3 Years for Fraud
An engineer convicted of overbilling the government more than $300,000 for work at Reading (Pa.) Regional Airport was sentenced to three years in federal prison yesterday.
John M. Vitillo, 52, of Douglasville, must also pay $317,000 in restitution, Assistant U.S. Attorney Bob Goldman said.
A jury convicted Vitillo and his two firms of padding invoices for work on an expansion project at the airport between 1992 and 2000. Prosecutors said he also falsified books after learning that an audit was planned.
