Norwegian airline passengers may experience delays in December due to 'Santa Claus' flights, according to Avinor, the government aviation agency.
Officials said thousands of tourists fly each year through Norway's airspace to reach Santa's village near Rovaniemi, in Finland, on the Arctic Circle.
Around 600,000 people visit the attraction each year, resulting in around 250 charter flights in December, which can overload air traffic control capacity and cause delays of up to 30 minutes for other airlines.
Over 30 extra planes fly each hour at peak times during the season, many coming from the UK and the route over southern Norway is used as the shortest way to the Finnish Arctic.
