Southwest Sued Over Plane Skid Incident
CHICAGO_Two passengers have filed lawsuits over a Dec. 8 accident when a Southwest Airlines jet skidded off a runway during a snowstorm at Chicago's Midway Airport.
On Tuesday, a law firm representing the passengers said the suit alleges that Dallas-based Southwest and the city of Chicago were negligent in the accident.
The two plaintiffs, Mariko L.A. Bennett and Stanley L. Penn, are also suing Chicago-based Boeing Co., which they say is also liable in the case.
A spokeswoman for Chicago's Law Department declined immediate comment, and a representative for Boeing wasn't immediately available.
A Southwest Airlines spokeswoman said the National Transportation Safety Board was still investigating the accident. She said Southwest had not received a copy of the lawsuit.
The crash involved a Boeing 737 that plowed through a fence and onto a city street where it hit two cars, killing a 6-year-old boy who was inside a car crushed by the plane.
