US. Ted Stevens Anchorage International airport is considering whether to tender its duty-free operation or extend the contract of incumbent David Green Group once a temporary holding agreement ends.

The retailer's contract, which it has held for 10 years, expired in November and the airport revealed it was waiting for the results of a passenger profile study before deciding what action to take.

The airport and retailer have signed a holding agreement of not more than one year to allow the airport authority to make a decision, leasing and property management chief John Barsalou told DFNI. He added that the landlord hoped to make a decision within five months.

Although Barsalou said the airport had been satisfied with David Green Group's performance, he added that if a tender is launched it would call for a renovation of the airport's retail area.
