A small fire was quickly extinguished today in the baggage claim area of Terminal 1 at Los Angeles International Airport, authorities said.

Firefighters sent to the lower level of the terminal at 10:18 a.m. found that the sprinklers had kept the flames from spreading, and they then doused the fire, said Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No one was hurt, he said, adding that the cause of the blaze was under investigation.
