Flights Resume at Paris Airport After Air Traffic Controllers Launch Surprise Strike

Flights slowly resumed in midmorning after about a four-hour halt at the French capital's second-largest airport, but delays were expected to continue into the afternoon.

Air traffic controllers launched a surprise strike in a protest over work conditions, temporarily halting all flights at Paris' Orly airport early Tuesday, authorities said.

Flights slowly resumed in midmorning after about a four-hour halt at the French capital's second-largest airport, but delays were expected to continue into the afternoon, airport authority ADP said.

Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris' largest hub, was not affected, ADP said.

The strike followed a walkout by workers over wages last week, according to France's aviation authority, known as DGAC.

About 110 flights scheduled to leave Orly were canceled, and another 20 expected to land at the airport were rerouted to Charles de Gaulle, north of Paris, the DGAC said.
