Officials at the Grand Forks International Airport are considering adding amenities to make flying GFK more convenient for travelers.

Steve Johnson, executive director of the Grand Forks Regional Airport Authority, told the Grand Forks County Commission Tuesday that boardings in Grand Forks have declined about 4 percent over the last decade.

In an effort to change that, Johnson said, the airport is considering adding a porter service, offering free wireless Internet in its terminal and allowing people in short-term parking to pay with a credit card outside. Also considered are plans to make coffee and pastries available on early flights, he said.

Johnson also cited a recent survey that found Northwest Airline's fares at GFK's nearest competitor, Fargo's Hector International Airport, are no cheaper than its Grand Forks flights if customers buy direct from the airline. The survey examined the top six destinations from Grand Forks, he said.
