Direct Boston Flights Due at Charleston Airport
Charleston International Airport will get its first-ever nonstop flight to Boston this summer, when Delta Air Lines inaugurates a daily connection between the two historic cities.
Delta is launching once-daily service to and from Logan International Airport starting June 8. The service will originate in Boston at 8:30 a.m. with arrival in Charleston scheduled for 10:53 a.m. Flights are set to depart the Lowcountry at 11:30 a.m. and return to Logan at 1:43 p.m.
The new service will be operated by Delta Connection carrier Comair. Tickets went on sale Friday.
Delta said it's starting the new service based partly on response from Boston customers seeking flights to additional summer travel spots. Charleston is "frequently on the top of their list," said Bob Cortelyou, Delta's vice president of network planning.
Boston is the 7th-most-popular destination among local air travelers, according to the Charleston County Aviation Authority's most recent data.
