US Airways to Recall About 400 Flight Attendants
US Airways said Tuesday it will recall about 400 flight attendants who had been previously laid off, as Charlotte's dominant carrier boosts staffing to operate planes during the busy summer season.
Union officials said the recall announced Tuesday is the second flight attendant recall at the airline in decades.
US Airways Chief Executive Doug Parker said in a statement the recall is evidence of the airline's bright future -- a sentiment echoed by union officials.
"It obviously indicates the company is moving forward and is positive in its direction," said Mike Flores, leader of the US Airways union that represents flight attendants.
The additional flight attendants are likely to be hired in Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Washington, he said.
