Deutsche Lufthansa AG said it has no plans to buy Austrian Airlines (AUA), rejecting market speculation it is to launch a bid for the carrier.

´There are no plans for Lufthansa to take a stake in AUA,´ said a spokesman for the German airline. He added both companies are already benefiting from their existing cooperation as members of the global airline group Star Alliance. A ustrian Airlines´ chief executive Alfred Oetsch said in February he ruled out a takeover of his firm by another carrier within the next five years, and vowed to ´keep AUA independent´.
