The late Easter this year helped boost British Airways' passenger numbers in April 2006, it was announced today.
Economy traffic soared 10.9% and, in total, the airline carried 3.07 million passengers last month - 5% more than in April 2005.
UK and Europe traffic rose 1.9%, while North and South America passenger numbers were up 7.6%. Asia Pacific increased 14.2% and Africa and the Middle East rose 17.1%.
BA passenger planes were 78.7% full last month compared with a figure of 74.7% in April 2005.
Meanwhile, low-fare carrier Ryanair announced it carried 3.44 million passengers in April 2006.
This was 29% more than in April 2005 and was the airline's highest monthly figure so far.
