US Airways is starting its flights from Sarasota to Reagan National Airport at $109 each way, before taxes and fees.
The airline starts its new non-stop service to Washington, D.C., on Aug. 15. The flights will leave Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport at 12:55 p.m. and arrive at 3:20 p.m.
Departure from the capital is at 10 a.m., arriving in Southwest Florida at 12:20 p.m.
The Saturday flights will be on board a 50-seat regional jet operated by Chautauqua Airlines, doing business as US Airways Express.
US Airways will be eligible for the airport's fee waiver program for new service.
The Sarasota-Manatee Airport Authority approved multiple contracts Monday, starting with a new rate schedule for its self-storage business, University Self Storage.
University Self Storage's prices had been about 4 percent below the local market average, Finance Director Martin Lange said. The new schedule will keep rates for units without air-conditioning about 2 percent below market, while those with air-conditioning will be 1 percent above the local average.
The new monthly rates are effective Saturday for new leases and Jan. 1, 2007, for existing leases.
Rates will range from $93 to $143, depending on the size, for space without air-conditioning, and from $112 to $265 for those with air-conditioning.
In other action, the authority:
* Approved a new deadline for the developer of Innovation Green to submit development plans. Instead of Aug. 1, developers Enzo Gagliardi and Frank Folsom Smith will have until 60 days after the Federal Aviation Administration makes a final determination on the lease for about 8 acres of airport property.
* Waived purchasing requirements and authorized Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport Chief Executive Officer Fred Piccolo to spend up to $500,000 to relocate a baggage scanner. The airport is trying to free up common-use ticket counters and help the Transportation Security Administration speed up baggage processing ahead of the 2007 winter season.
* Approved a cost-sharing agreement with Rectrix Aerodrome Hangarminium Centers for utilities relocation. The airport will give Rectrix a three-month rent abatement to cover half the cost, $72,535.77. Rectrix is expanding its leasehold.
* Awarded a $347,023 contract for a new public-address system to the low bidder, Com-Net Software of Ohio. The bid was contested by the next-highest bidders, Altel Integrated Audio Visual Solutions of Tampa and Pro-Sound of Orlando.
