A strike by Air France runway personnel at Paris' Orly Airport caused delays of about 30 minutes Tuesday and forced the company to cancel about 10 flights, the airline said.

Runway personnel with the small Sud Aerien union said they need more staff to improve safety conditions, especially during the busy summer travel months.

"Employees don't want a repeat of accidents like the one that struck the company in February 2005," when an air hostess was killed after falling into the empty space between an airplane and a moveable staircase, the union said.
