International Business Machines Corp., the world's largest computer-services company, won a 7-year contract to run Delta Air Lines Inc.'s flight-booking and plane maintenance systems.
Under the agreement, which starts next month, 200 of Delta's 1,000 technology workers will move to IBM, Delta spokeswoman Betsy Talton said in an interview Monday.
The Atlanta-based airline, which operates a hub at Salt Lake City International Airport, didn't disclose financial terms of the contract.
Delta plans to exit bankruptcy in the first half of 2007 and expects "significant savings" from the IBM contract, Talton said. The airline filed the 10th-biggest bankruptcy case in U.S. history by asset size in September.
Delta has sought approval for the agreement from the bankruptcy court.
The shares of IBM, based in Armonk, N.Y., slipped 62 cents to close at $79.28 Monday on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares of Delta fell less than 1 cent to 71 cents in over-the- counter trading.
