Lincoln Airport will lose its 10:15 a.m. United Express departure to Denver starting Tuesday, a spokeswoman for United Airlines, which schedules the service, said Friday.

The airline also will cut one arrival from Chicago, according to a schedule obtained from the Lincoln Airport Authority.

Airport director John Wood said the change is "a seasonal schedule adjustment to allow for the normal falloff in travelers from summer."

United has made similar schedule adjustments before, he said.

"Without looking back, I can't say every year, but it has been done in past years, yes," he said.

The change will mean Lincoln has three daily departures to Denver; the schedule will continue to contain four arrivals from Denver and four departures to Chicago.

People don't fly as much in the fall and winter as they do in the summer, said United spokeswoman Robin Urbanski Janikowski.

"When we plan our spring schedule, we will study our customer interest to determine if the service will return," she said.

The times for the arriving flights from Denver will be changed. Planes will be scheduled to land at 11:51 a.m. and 2:29, 6:04 and 9:20 p.m. Departures will be at 7:15 a.m. and at 1:20 and 5:53 p.m. (The 1:20 flight will depart at 12:52 Saturdays). Departures to Chicago will have minor changes, except for the 2:09 p.m. flight, which will be pushed pack to 3 p.m.

In November, Urbanski Janikowski said, United will launch its "explus" service between Lincoln and Denver. The route will be flown on 70-seat Canadair jets, replacing the 50-seat jets now used. Improvements will include addition of first class seating and more overhead bin storage space, she said.
