Airbus, an aircraft manufacturer based in France, has revealed it sold 22 aircraft last month bringing its total for the year to 222, in comparison to the 548 aircraft sold by Boeing Co.
According to Airbus, it has received orders for 13 single-aisle A320 series aircraft and nine wide-body A330-200 aircraft, which includes one sold to Air Mauritius and eight to leasing companies. Although the company announced agreements for 182 aircraft at the Farnborough air show in England in July, orders generally take months to finalise.
A tentative contract for 20 of the new A350 XWB aircraft and a further nine A380 superjumbos from Airbus was signed by Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) at Farnborough, though this agreement is yet to be confirmed.
In comparison Boeing booked 30 new orders last month, assisted by its new 787 aircraft, which is due in 2008. However Airbus led in terms of deliveries, which accounts for when manufacturers receive most of the payment for aircraft, delivering 283 aircraft as of the end of August, compared to Boeing's 258.
