AA's Dallas-Beijing Route Would Boost Texas Economy

American Airlines' proposed non-stop service from Dallas to Beijing would bring 180 mln usd to the Texas economy annually, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport said in a media statement monitored here.

Citing the results of a survey by aviation consulting firm SH&E, the airport operator said the route would generate jobs, stimulate trade through increased imports and exports and boost visitor spending in the southern US state.

Trade between Texas and China reached over 22 bln usd in 2005, with more than 13.6 bln usd-worth coming through Dallas-Fort Worth, the statement said.

Northwest Airlines wants to open a route between Detroit and Shanghai, United Airlines hopes to serve Beijing from Washington DC, and Continental is looking to fly to Shanghai from Newark.
