Woman Gives Birth on Board British Airways Aircraft

A British Airways flight from London, United Kingdom to Boston, United States made an emergency diversion when a woman on board the aircraft went into labour.

On 23 September a woman travelling on the flight went into labour after the aircraft had taken off and as the aircraft was unable to reach another airport in time the baby was delivered mid-air. The delivery was carried out by the cabin crew with the help of two passengers, Reuters reported.

According to an airline spokeswoman, the woman was experiencing some distress and the baby was born six weeks premature.

The aircraft was diverted to Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada.
