Brazil Jetliner Goes off Runway; None Hurt

A plane operated by Brazil's Gol airlines ran off a runway and onto grass Friday after the pilot lost control while landing at Congonhas airport in Sao Paulo, according to federal airport officials. No one was injured but other flights were briefly delayed.

Lucia Goncalves of the federal airport authority said the that incident occurred at about 6 a.m. (0900 GMT) involved a flight from the midwestern city of Cuiaba with 122 passengers aboard a Boeing 737-300.

She said officials closed Congonhas for takeoffs and landings for about an hour until the plane could be moved.

The incident was unrelated to the Sept. 29 crash of a Gol jetliner that had collided with an executive jet. Officials said 154 people died.
