Thai Airways Employees Complain of Harassment at Suvarnabhumi Airport
Construction workers at the new Suvarnabhumi international airport in Bangkok, Thailand have been accused of sexual harassment by several female employees of Thai Airways.
The airline employees alleged that they were verbally or physically assaulted while working evening shifts at the airport, which opened in September, according to their union.
The union said it has filed a complaint to the Airports of Thailand airport authority, requesting increased security after-hours. It has also asked for construction workers to end their working day at 17:00 local time.
The union said a hotline number has been set up by airport authorities, with a promise to deal with the problem. One female employee at the airport complained that a worker seemed to be stalking her, while around a dozen have reported verbal harassment incidents, The Associated Press reported.
