The flight attendants of Northwest Airlines Corp have requested that a federal appeals court reject a lower court ruling banning them from striking while they are in contract mediation talks.

According to Reuters, the flight attendants have said that a preliminary injunction blocking them from staging a walkout is unlawful.

Northwest has stated that a strike would be harmful to the carrier and that the ban should be maintained. Judges have not said when there will be a ruling on the appeal.
