Fargo Interested in Frontier Airlines
FARGO (AP) - The airport executive director here will not say whether he is trying to lure Frontier Airlines, but says he would be interested in talking with Denver-based Frontier.
Frontier has heard from a number of cities interested in landing its service, and Minot and Grand Forks have been preparing proposals. Cities have until Monday to submit proposals for Frontier, with a decision to be announced sometime in May.
The airline sent out requests for proposals to about 50 airports, Fargo airport executive director Shawn Dobberstein said.
"I can't confirm or deny that we received one," Dobberstein said. "Whether or not we're going after them or if they've expressed interest, I guess I won't say."
Denver-based Frontier pulled out of Fargo in September 1996, after serving the area about two years. It also served Bismarck.
"We're interested in talking to Frontier," Dobberstein said. "If they are interested in coming back to this community, we're interested in chatting with them."
An agreement announced Thursday with Indianapolis-based Republic Airlines will allow Frontier to expand into such smaller communities as Fargo and Bismarck, he said.
"I think they've probably always kept their eye on North Dakota," Dobberstein said.
