The security regime has been reinforced at Moscow airports in connection with warnings about the probability of terrorist attacks.
The press service of Sheremetyevo airport told Itar-Tass on Wednesday, ``Additional aviation security measures were introduced here yesterday evening. In particular, a 100-percent examination of passengers and luggage, and the number of personnel responsible for security of the terminal and other airport facilities has been increased.''
``Additional patrolling of the air terminal building by the personnel accompanied by officers with sniffer dogs has been organised,'' the airport official pointed out adding that guarding of the airport infrastructure facilities has also been reinforced.
Domodedovo airport has also confirmed stepping up security measures. ``Based on the information of January 16 on the threat of sabotage and terrorist acts on transport, instructions of Chairman of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) Nikolai Patrushev and instructions of the Russian aviation authorities addressed to the airport administration, all services ensuring security at our airport are working in an alert regime,'' the Domodedovo press service pointed out.
Vnukovo airport as the government one, has a five-stage security system, the press service of the airport said. ``It includes on-the-spot exposure of suspicious persons and vehicles at the entrance to the airport territory, examination of passengers and luggage both at the entrance to the terminal and pre-flight checks, separate luggage examination, as well as selective examination of passengers arriving in Moscow,'' said the press service.
According to the airport officials, the situation at air terminals is calm and they are operating in a normal regime, despite enhanced security measures.
