Start-up airline Virgin America has unveiled details of its airline product, including the aircraft interiors and state-of-the art in-flight entertainment system.

The airline said that its First Class features custom-designed seating, with a massage function and top-of-the-line electronic hardware.

Other features of Virgin America's new Airbus A320s include mood lighting, enhanced seating in both the first class and main cabins, contemporary class dividers and a self-service mini bar. The new aircraft will also offer Virgin America's "Red System" of in-flight entertainment (IFE) products, featuring Hollywood pay-per-view movies, live satellite TV, audio, games, e-mail and SMS messaging, wireless access throughout the cabin and meals on-demand with an in-flight shopping system.

Virgin America has said that the first mood lighting system in the US was custom developed with Airbus and technology partner Diehl Luftfahrt Elektronik and is unique to Virgin America and to the aircraft type. The system detail includes mood lighting in both front and main cabins with colour tones and levels that slowly change over time, relative to external conditions, and has daylight, dusk, sleep and dawn modes.
