United Faces Delays on China Flight

United is concerned that it will not have enough time to sell tickets for the nonstop daily flights from Washington to Beijing, scheduled to begin March 25.

United Airlines cannot sell tickets yet for its new route to Beijing because of challenges by American Airlines and Continental Airlines, Crain's Chicago Business reported, citing an unidentified United Airlines representative.

United is concerned that it will not have enough time to sell tickets for the nonstop daily flights from Washington to Beijing, scheduled to begin March 25, Crain's said. The company gained approval for the route from the U.S. Department of Transportation earlier this month. The department may rule on the challenges from the competing airlines in February.
