A Syracuse man is facing felony drug charges after he tried to take heroin and cocaine through a passenger screening area at the airport this weekend, Syracuse police said.

Samuel Crespo , 44, of 560 Delaware St., first raised suspicions at the JetBlue Airways desk Sunday morning when he bought a one-way ticket with cash to Puerto Rico just before the flight time and was reluctant to provide his name and address, police said.

As he was passing through the security checkpoint, Crespo was searched and found to have 69 gold-foil packets of heroin, a folded $20 bill containing heroin, a clear plastic packet of cocaine and $4,030 in cash, police said.

Crespo was charged with third-degree criminal possession of controlled substance, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
