Plane Hits Moving Car during Approach to Ponca
A single-engine airplane crashed into an automobile near Ponca City Regional Airport, but nobody was seriously injured.
Paul F. Kluver, 50, said his 1961 P-35 Bonanza airplane lost power on its approach from south of the airport shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday.
The airplane struck a passing car driven by Ponca City resident Twania Wilson.
"My son-in-law saw the plane out of the corner of his eye and then there seemed to be a big white flash as the aircraft hit my car," Wilson said.
The car sustained major damage.
The aircraft then slammed into the chainlink fence surrounding the airport.
The left wing was torn from the plane.
Kluver was treated for a cut on his head.
