Life Coach on the Air on American Airlines
After several years as a "life coach" in Plano, Bill Blalock will get a national audience in April when he's featured on an in-flight radio program on American Airlines.
Mr. Blalock says he'll use his time on the business talk show to explain that the path to success is directly related to the development of an individual's personal life. If that sounds simple, he says, it's not.
"I steer people away from the easy road to success, the splashy seminars," he says. "You may be successful as a salesperson, but perhaps your personal life is taxed significantly and there's no balance."
The radio program will include interviews with authors, life coaches, business gurus and inspirational speakers, including Jack Canfield, who originated the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. The show was produced by Sky Radio Network of Los Angeles.
Mr. Blalock launched his life coaching practice three years ago, although he has worked in that capacity with a few select clients for more than 15 years.
Now he hopes to reach many more people through their in-flight audio headsets. He's especially interested in helping people get to the next level at work.
"There's a lot of people today hitting the proverbial wall," says the former corporate executive, who has worked for Frito-Lay Inc. and other companies. "This gets me in the public domain, where I think people can begin to understand what life coaching is about and the benefits you get from it."
He's also planning to offer weekly podcasts from his Web site, , for $19.95 a month.
