Jul. 17--Macon's City Council is poised to vote on a new airport contract that would bring both city airports under a public-private partnership, with a private company handling day-to-day management of the facilities.

The long-discussed possibility, which Mayor Jack Ellis has been pushing for, is on the agenda for tonight's council meeting, which starts at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with a pre-council session.

The arrangement would pay TBI Airport Management $135,000, plus some further payments based on various performance goals.

There was some question whether the contract, approved last week by the council's Public Properties Committee, would have a hard time getting on tonight's full council agenda. But it made the agenda easily, with almost no discussion.
