Mears joins Go alliance of airport shuttle firms

Aug. 8, 2007

Mears Transportation Group of Orlando is joining with more than three dozen other private transit companies worldwide to form a unified airport shuttle service called Go Airport Shuttle.

The service, launched last week, serves 110 destinations including Orlando International Airport. Each company in the alliance will convert its vans, buses and sedans to include the green-and-white Go label.

"It's an international branding strategy," Go spokeswoman Dyana Flanigan said. "It will mean consistent service from city to city, with a one-stop reservation system."

Flanigan said many of the companies in the Go group have been working together since the mid-1990s, but until now haven't attempted to share a logo. The Go fleet has 3,765 vehicles that carry nearly 29 million passengers annually.

Customers can now book ground transit at airports through a Web site, www.goairportshuttle.com, or by calling a toll-free number.

Mears is one of 10 businesses that collectively own Go. Mears officials couldn't be reached for comment Monday. According to Go, Mears will operate as Go Mears Transportation Group.
