Pratt & Whitney opens new facility in Middletown, Connecticut

Manufacturer and designer of aircraft engines Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE: UTX), announced on Monday (13 August) that the company has opened its new testing facility in Middletown, Connecticut, US. The new USD12m facility will initially be used for performance testing of the fan drive gear system, a key element of the company's next generation Geared Turbofan engine. The company said that the gear system design would undergo critical testing over the next 18 months as part of the company's technology development plan.
