New contract voted down by AirTran pilots

The National Pilots Association has announced that AirTran's pilots have voted down a proposed tentative agreement by a margin of 61.37% to 38.63%.
Some 87% of the pilot group reportedly participated in the vote, representing 1,284 pilots out of the 1,477 eligible to vote.
The National Mediation Board, which has been overseeing negotiations since September 2005, placed the talks in recess until after the New Year, following the results. The contract falls under the Railway Labor Act and does not therefore have a hard termination date. This means it is amendable until the National Mediation Board releases the two sides to find self-help, or until it is replaced by a new contract.
